Dragon Spin FAQ: Your Top Questions Answered
Can free spins be re-triggered? Which states allow real-money play? What's the minimum bet? Answers sourced from licensed operator pages and game specs.
Dragon Spin is a 5-reel, 3-row Asian-themed video slot from Bally Technologies (now Light & Wonder), released February 1, 2015. Below I've pulled together the questions I hear most often — from how the bonus triggers to which US states let you spin for real money.
What is Dragon Spin and who made it?
The dragon spin slot was built by Bally Technologies, now operating under the Light & Wonder / Scientific Games umbrella. It features four colored dragon symbols (red, blue, purple, green) as the top-paying icons, plus standard card-rank low pays and a green emerald Scatter that triggers the bonus wheel.
Note: a few unrelated games share similar names — Barcrest's "Dragon Spin Pick 'N' Mix" and Light & Wonder's "Dragon Spin Cross Link Water" are separate products. This site covers only the original 2015 Bally release.
What is the RTP and volatility?
Most sources cite the RTP at 95.94%, with a handful citing 95.96% — likely a minor version or jurisdiction difference. Volatility is rated low, meaning wins come more frequently but in smaller amounts. For a deeper look at what that means for your bankroll, see the Dragon Spin RTP 95.94%: What Low Volatility Means for You page.
What is the minimum and maximum bet?
The game runs 30 paylines with a minimum of $0.01 per line, making the minimum total bet $0.30 per spin. The maximum is $120 per spin. You can choose from 28 per-line denominations, so there's reasonable flexibility for different bankroll sizes.
How do I trigger the Dragon Spin bonus?
Land the green emerald Scatter simultaneously on reels 2, 3, and 4 to spin the Dragon Spin Wheel. The wheel awards one of three free-spin modes: Raining Wilds, Persisting Wilds, or Reel Blast. None of the three modes can be re-triggered once active — so what you land on the wheel is what you get. For full details on each mode, the Dragon Spin Bonus Modes: Raining Wilds, Persisting Wilds & Reel Blast guide breaks them down spin by spin.
Does Dragon Spin have a jackpot?
Yes — five progressive jackpot tiers are available in real-money mode, with a documented top prize of $24,421.30 recorded in real-money play. The base-game jackpot (five wilds on a payline) pays 200 coins; land five wilds during free spins and that doubles to 400 coins. The overall max win is 300× your bet.
Where can I play Dragon Spin for real money in the US?
Real-money online casino gambling is legal in eight states as of 2026: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia. Dragon Spin is confirmed at DraftKings Casino and Party Casino in New Jersey, and at BetMGM and Hollywood Casino in Michigan. Availability is limited — SlotCatalog found it at only 2 of the 10 leading NJ casinos surveyed — so always verify before depositing. The Dragon Spin Slot: Licensed US Casinos Where You Can Play for Real Money page lists current confirmed operators by state.
New Jersey players must be physically inside the state to wager; geolocation is actively enforced per the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement. Michigan operators are regulated by the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Minimum age in all eight legal states is 21.
Can I try Dragon Spin for free?
Yes — the instant-play demo requires no download and no deposit, and it runs directly in a browser. I recommend the dragon spin slot demo guide if you want to map out the bonus features before committing real money. Never play for real money on unlicensed offshore sites; stick to the state-licensed operators listed on this site.
Are there casino bonuses for Dragon Spin?
Welcome offers vary by operator and change frequently. DraftKings Casino NJ has listed an "Up to $1,000 + 500 Casino Spins" offer; Party Casino NJ has advertised a "200% up to $100" welcome bonus. Affiliate pages sometimes promote a $20 free no-deposit offer, but terms — including wagering requirements — are set by the casino itself, not the affiliate. Check the Dragon Spin Casino Bonus Offers page for what's current, and read each operator's terms before depositing.
