Dragon Spin Slot — Bally's Asian Dragon Game Explained

Dragon Spin is a 5-reel, 3-row Asian-themed video slot developed by Bally Technologies (now part of Light & Wonder), released February 1, 2015 — and after testing it at DraftKings NJ and BetMGM Michigan, I can tell you it holds up as one of the more accessible Bally titles in legal US online casinos today.

What Makes Dragon Spin Worth Your Attention?

The game runs on 30 paylines in the base game, expanding to 90 during its Reel Blast free-spins mode. RTP sits at approximately 95.94% across most sources, with a handful citing 95.96% — a small discrepancy that likely reflects version differences between jurisdictions. Volatility is rated low, meaning you'll see wins hit more frequently, though the 300× maximum win keeps this in bankroll-management territory rather than life-changing jackpot country.

Bets start at $0.30 per spin (30 paylines at $0.01 minimum per line) and top out at $120 per spin, with 28 available per-line denominations. That range makes Dragon Spin workable whether you're testing the waters with a small deposit or comfortable spinning at higher stakes.

How Do the Dragon Spin Bonus Features Work?

The core trigger is landing the green emerald Scatter on reels 2, 3, and 4 simultaneously. That activates the Dragon Spin Wheel, which randomly awards one of three free-spins modes:

• Raining Wilds — 3–10 random wilds added per spin across 5 free games
• Persisting Wilds — wilds lock in place for all 5 spins once they land
• Reel Blast — the game triples its reels and expands to 90 paylines for the duration of the bonus

One thing worth flagging: none of these modes can be re-triggered once you're inside them. Players expecting unlimited free-spin extensions should factor that in. Full breakdowns of each mode, including how Reel Blast's shared center reel works, are covered on the Dragon Spin bonus modes page.

Does Dragon Spin Have a Progressive Jackpot?

Yes — five progressive jackpot tiers are available in real-money play. A documented top prize of $24,421.30 has been recorded. In the base game, five wilds on a payline pays 200 coins; during free spins that climbs to 400 coins. The four dragon symbols each pay 350 coins for five-in-a-row, 140 coins for four-in-a-row, and 35 coins for three-in-a-row.

If RTP and volatility math matters to your session planning — and it should — the Dragon Spin RTP 95.94% page goes further on what low variance means for your expected bankroll swings over time.

Where Can You Play Dragon Spin for Real Money in the US?

Real-money online slots are legal in eight states as of 2026: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia. Minimum age is 21 in all of them. Nevada allows online poker only — slots are not permitted there.

In New Jersey, DraftKings Casino, Party Casino, and TropicanaCasino.com all carry Dragon Spin. In Michigan, BetMGM and Hollywood Casino are confirmed. That said, SlotCatalog found the game at only 2 of the 10 top NJ casinos they surveyed, so availability is genuinely limited — always verify a casino carries it before depositing. NJ players must be physically located in New Jersey to wager for real money, even with an active account; the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement actively enforces geolocation requirements for all licensed online casino operators in the state.

The full state-by-state breakdown of licensed operators — including which welcome bonuses apply — is on the Dragon Spin licensed US casinos page.

Can You Play Dragon Spin for Free First?

The instant-play demo requires no download and no deposit, and it's the smartest way to learn the Reel Blast mechanic before committing real money. I ran through it in demo before my first real-money session and it gave me a solid feel for how often the Scatter actually lands. The dragon spin slot demo guide explains exactly how to access it and what to watch for before you switch to real play.

What Bonuses Are Available for Dragon Spin Players?

DraftKings Casino NJ has been listed with an "Up to $1,000 + 500 Casino Spins" welcome offer; Party Casino NJ with a 200% match up to $100; and a $20 free no-deposit bonus has been advertised via PlayUSA.com. Bonus terms — especially wagering requirements — are set by the casino, not by Bally, and they change. The Dragon Spin casino bonus offers page tracks current promotions and flags the key terms to check before you claim anything.
